North Berwick information
North Berwick has long been recognised as a town of importance, it was in fact made a Royal Burgh in 1373. Many Kings and Queens have enjoyed visiting the town over the years but it was not until Victorian times with the building of the railway line that it became popular as a holiday destination. Today visitors from all over the world are attracted to this charming coastal holiday resort with it's pleasant situation, lovely beaches and scenery. Of course, it's also just half an hour by train or car to Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh.
North Berwick is famed internationally for it's beaches. There's 3 to choose from, each within easy walking distance of the town. If you're looking for a quiet secluded spot then 'The Dunes' is the perfect beach for you. If on the other hand, you'd like some peace, but want to be close to the High Street for regular ice creams, then you need to visit the 'West Beach'. For those looking for the hustle and bustle of a summer beach with crowds of sunbathers, swimmers and castle builders then the 'East Beach' is the beach for you.
